WE GOT U:
Avoid gender biased competency questioning. You know - mansplaining, hepeating, bropriation, sealioning, and other “ughhh” inducing behaviors.
Imagine a workplace where credibility isn’t filtered through gender. Where “Are you sure?” becomes “Tell us more.”
Consider this:
Identical résumés with male names are rated as more competent, more hirable, and deserving of higher pay than those with female names.
In classrooms, male students are 19 times more likely to name a male peer as “most knowledgeable” - even when women have equal or better grades.
Pay attention to when you're asked to defend your ideas, and when others aren't. Who gets immediate buy-in? Who gets grilled? Who gets credit? Keep a log for two weeks so that you can identify patterns. Identify where, when, and who has a tendency to default to bro-fessional behavior.
